Community Outreach

Gary A. Levengood, M.D., is the Founder and President of Sports Medicine South, LLC. Board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Levengood completed a sports Medicine fellowship at The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia where he specialized in Arthroscopic Surgery and Sports Medicine. He also holds membership in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Gary Levengood is the current Team Physician of the Georgia Force, Atlanta Blackhawks FC, Sports Medicine Consultant for the GHSA and the Medical Director for AFUSA, GSSA ODP and the Gwinnett Gymnastics Center. Formerly, he served as the Chief of Orthopedics at Gwinnett Medical Center and Team Physician for the Atlanta Silverbacks from 2000 – 2007. In addition, he supports the local community by serving as Team Physician for Brookwood High School, Norcross High School and Mountain View High School. Dr. Levengood also supports several local clubs and youth organizations throughout Gwinnett County.

Sports Medicine South and Dr. Gary Levengood have recently extended their efforts in reaching out and giving back to the community by becoming a sponsor for The Sport of Giving for 2009. The Sport of Giving is a non-profit organization dedicated to Breast Cancer Care & Prevention on a neighborhood level. They have used their past donations for things like supplying hospitals with mammogram machines to assisting in the creation of a Center for Women’s Services at Gwinnett Medical in Duluth. Sports Medicine South is proud to sponsor such a great cause producing tangible results to help women combating breast cancer.
